I had a work event here for a week so one of my friends and I decided to come a few days early and enjoy Miami for the weekend. We were happy to splurge on what we expected to be a luxury hotel. What a joke! As we prepared to crawl into our beds after a very long day of travel, my friend pulled her bedding back and a condom package was revealed. Despite claims on their website about advanced cleaning, this was a clear indicator that the housekeeping staff had failed miserably! We called the front desk and they apologized and offered to move us to another room. We had just traveled from the West Coast and it was nearly midnight, so we declined their insignificant, inconvenient offer. The room was nice and big. The views were amazing. Hotel and restaurant staff super nice and accomodating. Would 100% recommend it! This is in a prime location close to the Ferris wheel and tons of boat tours as well as walking distance to many amazing restaurants and a Whole Foods nearby for groceries.
Having stayed at a what was supposed to be a 4 star resort on South Beach just before checking in, my expectations were not high but to my surprise the standard of service was flawless! After getting to the hotel I had a shower but shortly after realized I was in a connecting room and my neighbor had a small crying baby. I called front desk and asked if it was possible to move, Bernardo assisted me and let me know that I could move rooms to a lower floor or I could upgrade for a discounted rate which is what I opted for. He immediately came personally to give me my keys and help me with my bags which made an impression on me. Hotel is wonderful and the staff is extremely productive and professional. However, I was a bit disappointed the mini bar in your hotel room they charge for everything water its not even included and you have to pay a 200 dollar deposit that I was unaware of. Communication needs to be effective especially when your spending your hard working money.
My husband and I had an incredibly wonderful stay at the Intercontinental in Miami. It is a gorgeous hotel and in such a great location, within walking distance to a myriad of restaurants, bars, and other entertainment.The room was modern but comfortable. The space was large, including a large bathroom and closet space. We had a room overlooking the bay, and we had a nice ledge up against the window, big enough to sit on, plus a chaise-style sofa just beneath. It was so lovely to look out at the water. The bed was beyond comfortable! It was hard to decide to get up and go do things, it was just so plush and wonderful!
The staff was stellar – very friendly and helpful. We were greeted nearly every time we entered the lobby, whether coming or going.
So the reason I am not giving 5 stars (and, truthfully, I wish I could give 4.5 stars because this issue is minor, but I want to note it)…
The room did not have a usable fridge. There was a fridge, but it was stocked with mini-bar items and was equipped with an automated system that did not allow you to move items out of the fridge without paying for them. (Be aware of that too – if you are looking through the mini-bar to see what’s there, don’t take the items out unless you plan to pay for them and eat/drink them!) We had brought a few beverages and some food, as we had plans to watch a game in our room one afternoon, and we had no way to keep our items cold. I found this to be pretty odd, so I wanted to note it in my review.
Other than that, though, everything was absolutely wonderful. We were visiting from just about an hour north, but we are now moving away from the area. I don’t know when we’ll be back in Miami, but if we ever are, I’d certainly love to stay at the Intercontinental again
